What better way than to return with superb solid rock? This is Three Days Grace at it's very best. And man, this is one hell of an album.
This is my first album review, so I'll try not to go bit by pieces. As y'all know, I have also made a single review for the album's lead single, Chalk Outline. Just click on it, and it'll lead you to the review. You can listen to the full album here. Dispersing from a fan's point of view, I have to say Transit of Venus was a well-made hit, with the specialty of it being a taste of surprise into it. To make it much more easier to understand, it was a total different work from their past three albums, namely their self-titled debut album, One-X and Life Starts Now. Transit of Venus may as well be the refreshing soundtrack to boost fan's little hopes and add a touch of gloss to their already well-written past albums. I don't exaggerate when it comes to the word 'surprising'. Starting with the first song on the record, Sign of the Times, it instantly brings you back to the old Three Days Grace world where the rawness demonstrated was devastating and intensified. And with that said, that is where it begins. With half of the song already off with a low key, the instant drums and guitars kick in to astounding effect. What a way to drag fans back into the realm of where we left off. Not wanting to drag it all, I want to pick out some of the main highlights of the album. Firstly, Three Days Grace have done superb covers of artists over the years, in fact also covering Eminem's Lose Yourself live. Fans will be drubbing their taste buds as this time, they cover a pop legend, none other than Michael Jackson himself. And with that, brings the riffs and drums back to life with their own taste and sound. Give In To Me, is definitely one of the best songs on the album itself. Now that the next single is now The High Road, let's do a quick review of the song right here. The pretentious lyrics and flawless bass guitars on the background, simply gives it a plus to the song. With some accounts going back from Life Starts Now, there is hardly any other that is like that on the record, adding it's surprising inclusion and that it remains one of the top songs in the album. I'm more than glad to be able to say that The High Road is a great choice for the next single. Discussing on to the next single, I have many choices that is suitable, and might consider as well. Firstly, it is Broken Glass. One of my favourite tracks on the album, Broken Glass is more than what people would define it as too rock. Straight down the wire, it is a suitable mix of alternate rock and suitable enough to play it on radio. Adam Gontier also shines in this track, and I'd rate it high above anything else. Next up is Unbreakable Heart. This instantly reminds me of One-X and a bit of their self-titled album. With one of the best chorus on the record itself, Adam's scream in this makes up for whatever that is lacking around it. It is one of the tracks that I feel like has a true Three Days Grace feel that any other song on the record has. Lastly, it would have to be Time That Remains. One of the more lively tracks and upbeat ones, it would be much more suitable to mainstream audiences and also pleasing everyone else. The verdict is in, and how did Transit of Venus score? RATINGS: 10/10: A splendid album instantly revives all of Three Days Grace die-hards and renews faith in them, with a touch of old and new. The album is a vocal smash, instrumental rare and definitely one of their best albums to date.
