Lyrics to the song CASTLE OF GLASS here.
This is my official second review off Living Things, the first one LIES GREED MISERY and also by Linkin Park. How awesome is that? First of all, as always, before I jump into the track, the reason I wanted to review CASTLE OF GLASS was because of Medal of Honor: Warfighter and their making a music video (by EA), so it adds to the gloss. When I first heard CASTLE OF GLASS, I knew people were gonna' go like, "Oh, it's unlike the other songs they've made." That I believe, is one Linkin Park's specialties. Making a track so raw, so intelligent as this, it almost became attached to me like most of the tracks of the album, which means it's a favourite. And when I meant that, I felt the song was just so good, it didn't have as much cons as I thought it'd have. On to the song itself, I could feel the connectivity of the song and to our everyday lives. Not just on a daily basis but in every situation around the corner. One of the best choruses not just on the album, but ever made, I felt that this song had a style that is unlike any other Linkin Park song you've heard before. With that said, don't compare and don't judge it. CASTLE OF GLASS starts off with this normal electronic kind of sound, before the rest of the whole comes in. As always, the writing is just superb. 'Take me down to the river bend / Take me down to the fighting end / Wash the poison from off my skin / Show me how to be whole again'. The chorus then instantly sticks to you. 'Cause' I'm only a crack / In this castle of glass / Hardly anything else for you to see / For you to see'. It stands out from the album and it's just so well-versed. The role-play between Mike and Chester play a long part and they both are as good in their prime as they used to be. They both sing on the chorus which I felt was the best part of the song. So much intensity that weigh as light as a feather, but at the same time mean so much to the community and individuals because of the lyrics and the sound. CASTLE OF GLASS is like IRIDESCENT mixed with HANDS HELD HIGH together with ROBOT BOY. Obviously, I do not lie. RATINGS: ORIGINALITY: 9/10 - A sound unlike most others, CASTLE OF GLASS is a classic within a classic. A sound that is experimented which can be heard clearly, this is a solid example of the mother of examples taken from all of their previous albums combined. This, my friends, is the ultimate end of your learning journey. SOUND: 9/10 - One you instantly connect to, CASTLE OF GLASS is one you're never going to put down just once. Not twice, but probably never putting it down. Trust me. LYRICS: 9/10 - I have to admit it, the lyrics are well-written and they come together in this epic proportion and you just have to listen to it clearly to understand the meaning. OVERALL: 27/30 - The first song to be added to my HALL OF FAME list! Why? No other song has ever crossed 26 on my other reviews and with this, I can assure you that you will be playing CASTLE OF GLASS for days!
