This time, it's a GOOD TIME! Owl City returns with an awesome track featuring the current pop superstar Carly Rae Jepsen who created the megahit, CALL ME MAYBE, to team up to produce a superb anthem that has me spinning some reviews.
As always, before I begin, you can click the link for the lyrics of the song, here. And to also announce, this song has also moved up on the Billboard Hot 100 at number 6. Well done Carly. Now people won't call you Maybe anymore. On other news, Linkin Park edged out Maroon 5 by 1,000 sales (apparently) to creep to top spot of the Billboard 200 albums. I myself have bought Living Things myself, but I really didn't compare it to Overexposed. Here we go. Well, it's been quite a long time since Owl City had any good songs coming out. I loved the promotional singles from his last album, but this return is a smash-hit and I can really feel this. On the other hand of the partnership, Carly Rae Jepsen, really just known for her only hit song and her other song that didn't come to fruition (CURIOSITY), is just enjoying her fruits of labour given to her by her label head, Justin Bieber. On the side-note, Carly was Canadian, so that represents the connection between the two as stated in the interview from Ellen DeGeneres. Now on the song itself, we finally see why Owl City has really just picked Carly Rae Jepsen out of a line-up. Let's move to Adam Young first. The cheeky lyrics and the ever-fascinating methods of production in music, Adam has impressed us all since his debut mainstream album that bombed the entire world, Ocean Eyes. The following album didn't gain much promotion or anticipation, but it was still quite a hit. Adam's next album, The Midsummer Station featuring this summer track, is going to be well received and I am betting on it. Moving on to Carly, she has definitely tried to move out of the spotlight given to her, but since then, she has seriously been appreciated and also respected as an artist. People have always said that she couldn't sing, but I beg to differ. Though CALL ME MAYBE is a different song, GOOD TIME represents her best song yet. Her vocals just didn't usurp the song, but she controlled it well to try and stay out of the limelight as a feature artist with Adam. RATINGS: ORIGINALITY: 8/10 - Just seriously blown away with this song when I first heard it. Carly and Adam seriously just got me this time. No other song with this kind of tempo. SOUND: 8/10 - Adam with his witty and impressive sounds, just does it every. Single. Time. Nothing more, nothing less. LYRICS: 8/10 - They just sound so good. But the flaws would definitely be in the lyrics of the song. Had they put much more effort, I would definitely see the song longer than just replaying, 'It's always a good time'. And Carly's verses were so smooth that there's something else to add on. OVERALL: 24/30 - A big-time summer-smash hit. Replay it all the way guys. With my new ratings in place, this song will be the first I'm implementing on. This song is a 'CHART-TOPPER'. Cheers!
